The Idea
Distract the perception of the eater by imagining an unbirthday cake and its installation inspired by Lewis Carroll's novel " Through the Looking-Glass". The senses top-bottom.
The History
The cake made with the pastry cook Fabrice Le Bourdat of the pastry store " Le blé sucré ", resumes the archetypal shape of the pièce montée in a reduced scale. It is crowned by an edible candle which becomes mixed up with the cake. The eater is invited to savour the cake in the middle of a mirror effect. So sat at the table, physically alone, he appears with five dinner guests who are nothing more than himself. The cake comes mysteriously, lighted "candle", by a hidden trapdoor. A music box plays its insistent ritornello.
